Eye Questionnaire

TO: Families with Children with Möbius Syndrome Individuals with Möbius Syndrome

FROM: Marilyn T. Miller, MD

RE: Möbius Syndrome Questionnaire

At the recent Möbius Foundation meeting, I asked some questions about tearing characteristics of children and also tear insufficiencies in adults (dry eyes), and there seemed to be an interest in getting more information from both families and individuals. This might be beneficial for a variety of reasons: a) to learn more about the number and type of tearing symptoms in infants and young children and share this information with families; b) to recognize the extent of symptoms in older individuals with Möbius syndrome with the thought of sharing more information on the entity (perhaps in an article in the newsletter), and having discussions of various treatments that give relief; c) to consider this area a possible subject for a formal research proposal in the future.

Information will not only benefit our members for treatment, but also give more insight into developmental problems that result in this condition.

I have enclosed a questionnaire and hope that you would complete it and return to me by mail or e-mail at:

Thank you for your time to answer these questions. Tearing problems have not been well described in association with Möbius syndrome, but may be greater than the medical profession appreciates.
